A German oncologist named three factors that will help avoid cancer

According to experts, in the next couple of decades, the number of cancer cases in the world will almost double compared to now.

The head of the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, Professor Michael Baumann, named three rules, the observance of which will help to minimize the risk of cancer. Baumann is sure that it is necessary to quit smoking, eat right and lead an active lifestyle.

Doctors believe that in the vast majority of cases, the cause of cancer is lifestyle, not genetics. Although this factor, as well as the occurrence of random mutations, cannot be discounted, modern doctors still consider lifestyle-related reasons to be decisive.

Baumann said that, according to studies, about a third of cancer cases, of all types, are related to smoking. That is, quitting smoking is already a big step towards cancer prevention. If you also exercise and eat right, then, according to the oncologist, you will significantly reduce your risk of developing cancer.

He also added that in the next few decades we will face a significant increase in cancer cases. Thus, by 2040, experts predict that there will be twice as many cancer patients as there are now. Baumann noted that this is due, among other things, to the growth of the population and life expectancy, since the risk of developing cancer increases with age.
