A healthy snack that can increase life expectancy

Developing healthy eating habits can increase life expectancy, scientists believe. However, it is important to know which products are useful and help you live longer. Research shows that snacking on nuts can reduce the risk of death from all causes.

According to a study published in the British Medical Journal, nuts are linked to increased life expectancy, especially when it comes to maintaining blood vessel health. , as well as reducing the risk of developing heart disease.

This is due to the content of polyunsaturated fats called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) in nuts. These fats are found in walnuts, flaxseeds, soybeans, and other plant-based foods.

The study was a systematic review of 41 articles that assessed the risk of death from consuming foods rich in ALA. Data on 120,000 people aged 18 to 98 were analyzed, taking into account other factors such as weight, smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity and calorie intake.

“The highest intake of ALA was associated with reducing the risk of mortality from all causes, cardiovascular diseases, and coronary heart disease by 10, 8, and 11%, respectively,” the scientists concluded.
