A mineral that can benefit men over 50

According to research and leading health experts, taking magnesium supplements can help men over 50. Why?
When it comes to a supplement that ranks as the most important mineral of all time, magnesium comes out on top.
Magnesium is involved in hundreds of biochemical processes in the body, including energy production, blood pressure control, and the development of healthy bones in men over 50. The supplement is also important for transporting calcium and potassium through cell development. Magnesium is needed to transport calcium and potassium across cell membranes, which is vital for the healthy functioning of nerves, muscles, and the heart.
What happens to the body when magnesium is deficient
Deficiency can cause fatigue, muscle cramps, mental problems, irregular heartbeat and osteoporosis. Health problems associated with magnesium loss include diabetes, poor absorption, chronic diarrhea, and celiac disease. Magnesium deficiency is also a risk factor for osteoporosis.
A study published in the National Library of Medicine looked at osteoporosis and magnesium deficiency. The study states: “strict control of magnesium homeostasis appears to be critical for bone health.
“According to experimental and epidemiological studies, both low and high levels of magnesium have deleterious effects on bone.
“Magnesium deficiency contributes to the development of osteoporosis, directly affecting the formation of crystals and bone cells, and indirectly, affecting the secretion and activity of parathyroid hormone and promoting low-grade inflammation.”
Taking magnesium supplements in middle age can help protect bones. Researchers found that middle-aged men with high levels of magnesium in their blood almost halved their chances of breaking a bone over the next 25 years.
A doctor should be consulted before taking supplements.
