A study based on a survey of nearly 50,000 men found that each serving of unprocessed red meat per day was associated with an 11% increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), and 15% of processed red meat.

Replacing red meat with high-quality plant-based foods may reduce the risk of heart disease, according to a new study up to 20%. The author of the study, Dr. Laila al-Shaar from Harvard University, said that the participants of the experiment filled out a detailed diet questionnaire back in 1986.
Every four years, for 30 years, they provided information about their diseases and lifestyle. During this time, 4,456 cases of CHD were documented, of which 1,860 were fatal.
As a result, experts found that a daily portion of mixed sources of plant protein, such as nuts, peas, beans, lentils and soy, reduces the risk of developing CHD by 14%.
In addition, replacing all red meat with whole grains and dairy products (cheese and yogurt) also prevents heart disease.
