Green vegetables
Leafy greens are rich in folic acid. Dr. Bredesen emphasizes that it helps reduce the level of homocysteine, which affects the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. And cruciferous vegetables help to remove toxins.
Whole grain products
Whole grain products can be an excellent basis for many dishes. Bredesen calls for abandoning simple carbohydrates in favor of complex ones, as the former are associated with metabolic syndrome, which, in turn, increases the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
Fish
Fish is an excellent substitute for red meat. It contains omega-3 fatty acids, which are associated with a reduced risk of Alzheimer's disease. In addition, fish has not been associated with colorectal cancer, as is the case with red meat.
Nuts
Nuts are not only rich in healthy fats, but and polyphenols. A number of studies have shown that they reduce the risk of developing dementia.
