A night in front of the TV could lead to dementia

Dementia is a popular disease associated with brain dysfunction. British scientists tried to identify the most common causes of cognitive disorders. About 344 thousand patients participated in the study, which lasted 15 years.

Experts identified 6 main factors that influence the development of dementia at any age. These include frequent TV viewing, sleep disturbances, lack of physical activity, dehydration, chronic diseases such as diabetes, stroke, stress or depression, as well as socio-economic status – unemployment or low income.

In general, doctors have identified more than 60 symptoms of dementia. Professor David Smith of the University of Oxford clarified that cognitive disorders are not always part of human aging. New studies prove that modern medicine and prevention can prevent brain changes in time.

“Since the available effective treatments are limited, the main focus should be on preventing the onset of the disease,” the scientist emphasized.

Smith advised watching less TV, including online programs, exercising more often, reviewing your diet, getting rid of bad habits and trying not to be alone or socially isolated.
