A nutritionist destroyed the popular stereotype about mayonnaise. The expert assures that it is not as harmful as many are used to thinking.
Of course, you should not abuse mayonnaise. The product is very high in calories: 680 kcal per 100 grams. That's a lot! But for comparison, 100 g of olive oil contains 880 kcal, and 100 g of cream contains 715 kcal.
“Is mayonnaise harmful to health? Let's start with the fact that the product is made from oil (unsaturated fats), the amount of trans fats in it is minimal. Mayonnaise has a lot of salt (which is not good) and a lot of calories,” says the expert.
The ingredient composition includes simple components: oil, egg yolk, sugar, salt, water, lemon juice or vinegar, mustard. Not the healthiest components.
Does it make sense to prefer lighter, non-fat mayonnaise? E. The main thing is to carefully read the composition and avoid stabilizers, excessive E-additives. Also remember that the taste of “light mayonnaise” leaves much to be desired.
Can you eat mayonnaise every day? It's not worth it, because of the excess salt and high calorie content.
What kinds of water can be made? You can eat mayonnaise, but you shouldn't abuse it on a regular basis. If you occasionally add a few spoonfuls of mayonnaise to your salad as a dressing, nothing terrible will happen.
But do not neglect other types of dressings, for example, oil.
