Walnuts, garlic, flax seeds and other products were named in the list of the most useful foods for the heart by Turkish nutritionist Fatma Baisal Yusuf.
One of the most useful contenders for the title of champion is garlic, says a nutritionist. A clove of garlic eaten daily (pre-crushed) brings, according to a Turkish expert, great benefits to blood vessels, effectively reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Another product for the heart is fish and fish oil, sources of polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids. These substances prevent the formation of blood clots, the main culprits of heart attacks.
In addition, nuts strengthen the heart. A nutritionist from Turkey recommends eating six to seven hazelnut kernels and two to three walnuts three times a week. These products provide the body with a lot of vitamin E, magnesium, fiber – an excellent set of components that improve the condition of the vascular system.
Also, the nutritionist included flax seeds in the list of the most useful foods for the heart (a tablespoon of freshly ground seeds per day is recommended), oats, products made from rye and whole grain flour, green tea, decoctions of chamomile and sage, red grapes, tomatoes, watermelon.
