The doctor recommends completely eliminating highly processed foods from the diet at this age.
Foreign nutritionist Blanca Garcia talked about what the diet of people after 60 years should be if they need to lose weight and maintain slimness.
One of the tips: you need to minimize the amount or completely eliminate ultra-processed foods from your diet, such as semi-finished products, chips, cookies, pastries, and ice cream.
“Most of these products lack quality ingredients and nutrients that promote cell and tissue repair. These products contain a large amount of refined carbohydrates, dyes, and sugar, leading to weight gain and nutrient imbalances in the body,” explained Dr. Garcia.
To maintain slimness after 60 years, it is important to consume enough protein, the expert emphasized. The nutritionist noted that research confirms the health benefits of having a variety of protein sources in the diet. In addition to eggs, which provide protein, fish, and meat (lean beef and poultry are recommended), vegetable protein is important, found in lentils, beans, peas, quinoa, mushrooms, and tofu.
The doctor also recommends eating whole grains, whole grain bread, brown rice, and pasta made from durum wheat. In addition, you should drink water, “a study published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition showed that drinking enough water promotes weight loss and reduces risk factors for obesity and type 2 diabetes,” the nutritionist shared.
