A nutritionist spoke about the dangers of “yesterday’s” pasta

Pasta is a popular dish among Ukrainians. A doctor of medical sciences, a nutritionist told in which case they can harm health.

In an interview on the radio, the specialist explained that you should eat only fresh pasta, not “yesterday's”, which have already cooled, and then reheated.

“If they are heated, especially in the microwave, starch, the most important carbohydrate in flour, becomes modified and difficult to digest. As a result of repeated processing, it can be said that electrons are detached from it, and the pasta already contains free radicals,” said the doctor.

She added that free radicals are harmful substances that cause mutations in cells, and to remove them from the body and neutralize the harmful effect, you need “mountains” of antioxidants.

Also, the specialist said that pasta made from buckwheat and soybeans (glass rice noodles, funchose) is considered the most useful. According to the doctor, it is better to eat pasta from soft wheat varieties in the first half of the day, so that the body has time to spend the received energy. And it is better to eat durum wheat products in the evening.
