Every person has their favorite dessert and most often it is a pastry. Generally, these foods are considered unhealthy, but many health experts point out that it's all about the quantity.
However, there is one food that will almost always be a bad choice – cupcakes. According to nutritionist Holly Klamer, muffins are often considered a healthy option for breakfast or a snack because they can contain healthier ingredients such as oats, dried fruit and chopped vegetables.
“However, about this can be said if we are talking about home baking. Ready-made muffins can be more harmful than they seem,” she added.
The expert explained that many ready-made muffins contain as much sugar as in one can of lemonade (340 g), and from 500 to 700 calories. In addition, such pastries are low in fiber, high in flour and refined vegetable oil.
