For according to a nutritionist, such a drink as sweet tea can be dangerous for people with a cold, because it tends to slow down the process of recovery from an infection.
During a cold, doctors always recommend drinking more liquid – it activates blood flow, lymph, metabolic processes, helps the body get rid of potentially toxic components. However, not all drinks will be useful during a cold – a well-known nutritionist called to remember this.
The Queen stated that people with colds should not drink tea with added sugar, as well as sweet drinks in general. Drinking them suppresses immune reactions and can interfere with normal recovery.
“Sugar that enters the gastrointestinal tract feeds pathogenic microflora, especially candida, and thereby suppresses immunity. Fermentation processes occurring in the intestines will inhibit immunity,” the doctor explained.
Talking about the drinks that will really be useful for those who have a cold, the doctor listed: green tea, water, cranberry or raspberry juices without sugar.
“Green tea contains antioxidants that help the body fight disease,” she noted at the same time.
