A person's character does not depend on his brothers and sisters

A sister will not make a younger the brother is more feminine, and the brother will not affect the masculinity of the sister. This is the conclusion reached by scientists from the USA.

The authors of the study focused on the relationship between children and their closest older or younger brothers and sisters. A unique data set was collected combining 12 large representative surveys from 9 countries. It reached 85,000 people. Also, the study assessed more personal qualities than previous works on this topic. Finally, an index describing the degree of possession of a characteristically feminine character was created. This made it possible to comprehensively check whether growing up with a sister leads to the formation of more or less gender personality stereotypes in brothers.

It was established that the gender of a brother or sister does not affect the child's personality. Across all 9 personality traits and the total index, it is proven that people who have older sisters generally exhibit the same personality traits as people who have older brothers. No differences in personality were found between people with younger sisters and younger brothers.

And since this information is evaluated on a very large number of people, the results obtained are very accurate and refute the idea that brothers or sisters force one one to develop typically female or male personality traits in the long term.
