The key rule for type 2 diabetes is proper nutrition. While some foods are recommended by doctors to be eliminated from the diet, others should be added due to their ability to lower blood glucose levels. One of them is ginseng.
Scientists have found that ginseng lowers blood sugar 30 minutes after eating. Experts came to this conclusion during an eight-week study. The experiment was completed by 24 people with type 2 diabetes.
All participants were divided into two groups. One of them used 3 g of ginseng extract daily, and the other a placebo. As a result, scientists found that when taken on an empty stomach, ginseng significantly reduced the level of glucose in the blood after a meal. “These studies show that American ginseng extract is effective and safe as an adjunctive agent in the treatment of type 2 diabetes,” the scientists said.
In addition, it was found that the plant extract reduced the level of glycated hemoglobin and systolic arterial pressure. However, experts emphasized that to confirm the obtained results, it is necessary to conduct larger studies.
