A professor of medicine has named a hidden allergen in food products

An American scientist from a research university in Evanston has named a hidden allergenic ingredient in food products. Analyses have shown that a severe form of an allergic reaction to sesame is quite common.

Professor of medicine and pediatrics Dr. Ruchki Gupta emphasized that sesame is added to many food products as a hidden ingredient, where it may not be used. However, this additive can cause a severe allergic reaction.

The researcher also added that sesame allergy, unlike the fairly common lactose intolerance that develops in childhood, manifests itself at any time in life. Most patients also have other food intolerances.

According to scientists, sesame should be included in the list of major food allergens, and products containing it should be labeled.
