Is it possible to prepare sponge cake without sugar, but at the same time keep its tenderness and sweet taste? The answer is yes, if you use honey! Honey sponge cake is not only tasty, but also a more useful alternative to the classic dessert, which adds a special aroma and light sweetness to the baked goods.
It is honey that not only sweetens the baked goods, but also helps to retain moisture in the dough, making the sponge cake m' which is airy for a long time.
To prepare a honey biscuit, you will need the following ingredients:
- 4 eggs
- 100 ml of liquid honey
- 200 g of flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- a pinch of salt
- 50 ml of oil (for a smooth texture)
Start by beating the eggs until foamy. Pro tip: for the best texture, the eggs should be at room temperature — this will help achieve the perfect sponge cake. Gradually add honey, continuing to beat the mass. Separately sift the flour with baking powder and salt, and then carefully mix it with the egg-honey mixture. At the end, add oil to make the biscuit more tender.
Bake at a temperature of 180°C for about 25-30 minutes, until the biscuit is golden and springy to the touch. Ready honey biscuit can be served with cream, berries or simply enjoy its aroma with a cup of tea.
