A red face and other external signs indicate a sick heart

Cardiologist: you can learn about heart disease by a person's appearance.

The doctor listed the external signs of cardiological problems in the interview. One of them he called facial redness.

“This is not about an episodic change in color during excitement or strong emotions, but about stable redness that does not go away even when you sleep. This may indicate high blood pressure,” the cardiologist explained.

Another external manifestation of a sick heart is cyanosis or acrocyanosis. With cyanosis, the skin and mucous membranes acquire a blue tint. With acrocyanosis, areas of the body distant from the heart become cyanotic – for example, fingers, auricles, tip of the nose. This kind of bluish discoloration indicates heart failure.

Also, the doctor added, “pale and cold feet can be a signal of heart problems.”

The specialist clarified that if muscle mass also begins to decrease on the legs or persistent injuries appear that do not heal for a long time, a person may be suspected of impaired arterial blood supply and atherosclerosis of the lower extremities.

Another unpleasant external symptom associated with possible heart disease is xanthelasma or xanthoma, small soft formations that occur in the eye area. Hereditary hypercholesterolemia manifests itself in the form of such “lumps”, when the level of cholesterol in the blood is elevated from an early age and there is a tendency to premature atherosclerosis.
