A simple recipe for pickled mushrooms with onions

Marinated mushrooms can be ready in a few hours and not at all be sure to buy them in the store. It is easy to make mushrooms at home, and the result will definitely surprise you with its taste. The main thing is a successful combination of marinade and proper preparation of mushrooms.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g of champignons or forest mushrooms;
  • 1 large onion;
  • 300 ml of water;
  • 50 ml of 9% vinegar;
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar;
  • 1 teaspoon salt;
  • 2 bay leaves;
  • 5–7 black peppercorns;
  • 3 cloves of garlic.

Mushrooms wash thoroughly and, if necessary, cut into halves. If using wild mushrooms, boil them separately for 15-20 minutes to remove possible toxins.

For the marinade, combine water, vinegar, sugar, salt, and spices and bring to a boil. Immerse the mushrooms in the marinade and cook for 10 minutes over medium heat. Add onion cut into half rings and finely chopped garlic, remove from heat and leave to cool.

After cooling, put the mushrooms in the refrigerator for at least 3-4 hours. Onions will add a pleasant texture and light sweetness to the dish, creating a harmonious balance of taste. Use champignons for a delicate result or experiment with wild mushrooms if you want a deeper flavor.
