A simple useful habit for prolonging life has been named

Life span can be increased by making one simple change to their eating habits. Will not require large financial costs. As American nutritionists Melissa Rifkin and Kelsey Hampton explain, the best and most important eating habit that will help you live longer is less processed foods.

An easy way to tell them apart at the store is to look at the ingredient list, writes Eat This Not That. If more than two are listed, it is most likely a processed product. “Raw chicken breast packed with a salt solution as a preservative will not be considered processed. But meat delicacies containing preservatives, flavorings and gelling agents will be processed products,” experts explain.

Processed products usually contain added sugar, various preservatives, flavor enhancers, and dyes. In small quantities, such components can cause health problems. But if such foods make up a significant part of the diet, health can suffer.

As noted in a study published in the journal BMJ, so-called ultra-processed foods can be especially harmful. These are some types of bread, juices and milk-based drinks, cakes, cookies, salty snacks, many breakfast cereals.

For example, the content of added sugars in such products can be eight times higher than in processed ones. According to scientists, high consumption of added sugars can contribute to obesity, the development of type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and other diseases that shorten life.
