Many people believe that the warmer it is in the bedroom in the cold season, the more comfortable it will be to sleep. But the habit of turning on the heater in the room before going to sleep can negatively affect the quality of sleep. This is about a somnologist.
According to her, the optimal temperature in the bedroom is +18…+21 °С. As the expert reminded, during sleep, processes occur in the human body that contribute to its recovery and allow you to feel refreshed in the morning.
However, if the room is hot and the heater is running, it becomes suffocating and uncomfortable. The stress hormone cortisol is released. “Sleep becomes restless, you may have nightmares, and you definitely shouldn't count on feeling good in the morning,” the somnologist explained.
Heaters dry the air. In this case, the skin suffers, peeling, irritation and itching may occur. Also, according to the somnologist, studies show that the temperature in the room where a person sleeps directly affects his metabolism. And if the bedroom is cool, this process happens faster.
