Many people mistakenly believe that if they drank heavily at a party, then the next morning they can calmly sit down helm. However, the study showed that the amount of alcohol in the blood depends on three main factors. This is the total amount of alcoholic beverages drunk the day before, the duration of their intake and the speed with which a person absorbs alcohol.
At the same time, the alcohol itself leaves our body at a rate of approximately 1 unit per hour. Recall that one unit of alcohol is approximately 20-30 g of strong drinks, a small glass of wine or a glass of beer.
The rate at which alcohol disappears from the body is affected by various factors, including stress, a person's gender, the state of his liver and the amount of food received together with alcohol.
But the idea that a few hours of sleep quickly help to sober up is wrong. Sleep does not increase the rate of removal of alcohol from the bloodstream.
But are there methods to speed up this process? Sometimes people drink coffee or take a cold shower and it can really help to rehydrate and fight hangovers. But this does not reduce the amount of alcohol in the blood. If you need to get behind the wheel the next morning, it is better not to drink alcohol at all in the evening.
If this does not work, alternate alcohol with soft drinks. Choose light alcoholic drinks, make sure that there is no more than 1 unit of alcohol in one glass and glass. If you can follow all these recommendations, then after 6-8 hours of sleep you will be able to get behind the wheel.
