A taste of childhood and a plant that is not often heard about nowadays. Root crops (onions, potatoes, beets, carrots) are mainly planted, but rhubarb (rumbambar) is forgotten. If you have one bush on the site, try to propagate it. How to do it, read further in the article.
Features of reproduction
Rhubarb can grow in one place for 15 years. To grow new specimens, seeds are used, or there is a better and more efficient way — rhizome division. This is done as follows:
- Dig up the plant without damaging the roots as much as possible.
- Divide the rhizome into parts Can be cut with a shovel into several parts. Preferably 2-4 are obtained.
- Each divided part should have 1 or 2 large buds and a sufficient number of roots.
- The separated parts should be slightly dried and sprinkled with activated charcoal for disinfection.
- The procedure is completed by planting.
For reproduction, adult plants are used, which have reached the age of 4-5 years. Younger people are not suitable. Rhubarb begins to bloom only in the third year. It can be propagated by rhizome division in autumn or early spring.
