A system that is brought down from above: Lubinets spoke about the torture and execution of Ukrainians in Russian captivity

Torture, abuse, execution of Ukrainian soldiers in Russian captivity is a special system that is brought down from above, and it pursues several goals.

Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, told about this in the “High Cabinet” project of the FREEDOM TV channel.

“I think that a special system was invented, which, of course, is lowered from above. In my opinion, they are pursuing two things,” he said.

The first goal is to intimidate the Ukrainian population and Ukrainian military personnel. The second goal is aimed at Russian soldiers.

“The second is to bind everyone by blood, so that every Russian soldier understands that according to international humanitarian law, even if he did not commit such things, he is already a war criminal. That is, so that Russian soldiers have no motivation to surrender. They are told there that look, we do this to Ukrainian soldiers, if you even think of surrendering, they will do the same to you. On the other hand, do not think of surrendering, because you will be publicly condemned as war criminals.” Well, this is also an additional argument why they should continue to fight against the Ukrainian population, against the Ukrainian army, that supposedly we are “non-humans”, we are some kind of “fascists”, and that they are doing a “good deed”, so even shooting a defenseless person is for they are a “heroic act” for which you can even be awarded,” Lubinets explained.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian authorities and law enforcement officers are doing everything to record such war crimes.

“From the beginning of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation to this moment, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has opened more than 138,000 criminal cases committed by Russian soldiers or representatives of the Russian authorities. This is a colossal spectrum. These crimes include sexual violence, murder, and grievous bodily harm causing death. This also applies to children, civilians, and prisoners of war. And, unfortunately, the number of these criminal offenses will increase,” the ombudsman noted.
