A tea that can lower high cholesterol in six weeks has been named

Drinking this tea for six weeks helps reduce elevated levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol, which is deposited on the inner walls of arteries, impairs blood flow, and increases the risk of a heart attack. It is about a drink like rooibos.
When calling for a reduction in cholesterol, doctors are referring to its “bad” variant, LDL (low-density lipoprotein). Its increased level means that there is too much fatty substance concentrated in the blood, which, sticking to the walls of the arteries from the inside, makes them hard, deprives them of elasticity and ability to expand, and impairs their ability to carry the necessary volumes of blood to the heart.
“ Lowering the amount of LDL-cholesterol reduces the risk of heart disease. This can be achieved by increasing the production of high-density lipoproteins, or HDL-cholesterol, which returns the harmful type of fat to the liver, processes it and helps to remove it.
According to experts, there are products and drinks that help to achieve such an effect. One of them is rooibos tea, also known as red tea, made from the leaves of a shrub grown on the west coast of South Africa.
Unlike “classic” teas, green and black, rooibos does not contain caffeine. At the same time, it contains 50 percent more antioxidants than green tea – polyphenols, flavonols, aspalatin, quercetin. NHS experts state that drinking it activates fat metabolism and can reduce high cholesterol in the arteries in six weeks.
“In a study involving 40 adults who were overweight and at high risk of heart disease, six cups of tea rooibos every day for six weeks reduced the level of “bad” LDL cholesterol, while simultaneously increasing the level of “good” HDL cholesterol,” the experts said.
Doctors added that drinking the drink can also have a beneficial effect on blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which causes narrowing of blood vessels, thereby increasing it. In a study involving 17 people, taking rooibos tea inhibited ACE activity 30-60 minutes after drinking.
In addition, doctors recommend controlling the consumption of food containing saturated fats (meat, butter, cream, cheeses, etc.), eat more vegetables and foods rich in omega-3 fatty polyunsaturated acids, as well as move a lot and do sports – all this in a complex especially effectively reduces the high level of harmful cholesterol, which threatens heart disease.
