A truly harmful product for high cholesterol has been named

As reported by American scientists, people with high levels of “bad” cholesterol need to eliminate sugar from their diet, not foods with saturated fats, as previously thought.

A low-carbohydrate diet is effective for people at risk for cardiovascular disease and overweight, hypertension and diabetes, the scientists noted.

They advise minimizing the consumption of foods that increase blood sugar levels, including bread and potatoes. This will help to avoid health problems.

– For the past 80 years, people with familial hypercholesterolemia have been strongly advised to lower their cholesterol levels by following a diet low in saturated fats. A new study has shown that a heart-healthy diet should primarily limit sugar, said cardiologist Professor David Diamond.

Hypercholesterolemia is a disease in which patients have cholesterol levels 2-4 times higher than in healthy people.

Previously, nutritionist Mikhail Ginzburg told what foods will help reduce high cholesterol levels in the blood. According to him, onions and garlic, when consumed regularly, protect the walls of blood vessels from the buildup of plaque. And to lower cholesterol, you need to eat dried apples. In addition, cinnamon reduces the level of bad cholesterol, preventing the development of atherosclerosis and hypertension.

Hypercholesterolemia is one of the main factors leading to atherosclerosis. Cholesterol accumulates and is deposited on the walls of blood vessels, affecting the coronary arteries, the vessels that feed the brain (carotid and vertebral arteries), as well as the arteries of the lower extremities.
