Consumption of cruciferous vegetables, including common white cabbage cabbage, is a simple but very effective way to avoid vascular diseases, this was shown by a study by scientists from the University of Western Australia.

“The frequent presence of cruciferous vegetables in the diet – broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage – is associated with a lower risk of developing vascular diseases in older women”, – reports in his article.
Researchers analyzed the features nutrition in comparison with health indicators of 684 elderly women. They found that participants who regularly ate cabbage vegetables had healthier blood vessels.
“Daily consumption of more than 45 grams of Brussels sprouts, white cabbage or broccoli reduces the likelihood of vascular disease by 46% compared to a diet that does not contain of these vegetables,” the scientists stated.
According to them, cruciferous vegetables help protect against the development of calcification (hardening) of vascular tissue, which is one of the markers of atherosclerosis. Scientists associate this effect with the action of vitamin K, which is saturated with various types of cabbage. Thus, the inclusion of cruciferous vegetables in the diet can become a simple, but quite effective way to avoid heart and brain diseases associated with atherosclerosis, the authors of the paper emphasize.
