An ophthalmologist told what diet improves vision

Shafiq Rehman, an ophthalmologist surgeon, explained why it is important to eat colorful foods for healthy vision. There are several options for food that will be best suited.

According to Dr. Shafiq Rehman, the brighter the drink or plate of food, the better for eye health. For example, from red foods, you can choose berries (including strawberries), tomatoes, red meat (in moderate quantities contains zinc), red peppers, salmon (contains omega-3). Vitamin C can prevent the development of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration or delay its appearance.

Oranges, grapefruits, lemons, carrots, apricots, melons, and sweet potatoes are suitable from orange and yellow foods. They contain vitamin C, and carrots and apricots also contain beta-carotene, which improves vision.

Zeaxanthin and lutein can be obtained from green foods (cabbage, lettuce, etc.). They help improve the condition of age-related macular degeneration and slow its progression.

It is also important to eat eggs for eye health. They contain vitamin A, which reduces dry eyes and plays a key role in good eye condition.

However, consuming alcohol in large quantities is contraindicated if you want to preserve your vision. Those who drink heavily may develop optic nerve degeneration, which can seriously affect vision.
