Any amount of alcohol can lead to breast cancer

American scientists conducted a meta-analysis of 100 observational research, which showed that even one alcoholic drink a day on a regular basis threatens to increase the risk of breast tumors. It is the most common malignancy in women.
The average lifetime risk of breast cancer for a woman who does not drink alcohol at all is about 5%.
However, it can rise to 7-14%, if the fair sex consumes at least one alcoholic drink a day. If this number increases to two or three drinks a day, the risk increases to 25%. In other words, one in four women who drink regularly will encounter breast tumors.
In the US, one in eight women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime, and that in itself is a pretty big number. But alcohol significantly increases this risk. The exact mechanism by which alcohol affects the formation of breast tumors is still unknown, there are only a few assumptions.
This may be due to the fact that in the body alcohol is broken down into a component called acetaldehyde, which is a carcinogen. It also increases the level of the female hormone estrogen in the blood, which is associated with the risk of developing estrogen-positive tumors.
Finally, alcohol prevents the body from properly absorbing various nutrients that protect us from cancer. These include vitamins A and D, as well as folic acid. And finally, alcohol is one of the drinks that increase weight. And this also entails the risk of developing cancer.
