Any form of obesity is dangerous for health

British scientists studied whether healthy people with obesity and a normal metabolic profile (MHO), or they too have a higher risk of developing health problems.
The study found that having a normal metabolic profile does not mean that an obese person is actually healthy, as they face an increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke and respiratory problems.
The authors analyzed data of 381 thousand persons. The average follow-up period was 11.2 years. Compared to metabolically healthy non-obese participants (MHN), participants with MHO were 4.3 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes, 18% more likely to have a heart attack or stroke, had a 76% higher risk of heart failure, 28 % more often suffered from respiratory diseases and 19% from COPD.
