Every day you can see stories in the media about how daily stress affects people's health. But recently it turned out that with age the amount of stress decreases and the body itself responds to it better.
In an article published in the scientific journal Developmental Psychology, scientists led by David Almeida, professor of human development and family studies at the University of Pennsylvania, came to an interesting conclusion. It turns out that with age, the reaction to daily stress decreases and the number of stressors decreases, writes Medical Xpress.
According to the specialist, this may be due to the fact that the older we get, the more social roles we master.
In addition, these social roles and our motivation also change with age. Older people admit that they want to use the time they have as productively as possible and enjoy it.
As a result of the new study, a team of scientists examined data from the National Survey of Everyday Experiences.
The participants in this study were from 25 to 74 years old, and there were more than 3 thousand of them in total. The data was collected over a 20-year period.
So, 20-year-olds reported that they were faced with stressors for almost 50% of 8 consecutive days, and 70-year-olds – already on 30% of all days.
