At what age should you check your cholesterol level?

Doctors remind that high cholesterol has no obvious symptoms, so checking its level is absolutely necessary at a certain age.
In Great Britain, the Flora ProActiv research project showed that many adults have never checked their cholesterol levels: among people aged 35 to 44 years, almost 46% had it, and among those who are over 55 years old – 19%. Commenting on these data, the authors of the study said that they cause serious concern, because the problem of high cholesterol increases with age and is more common in people over 40 years old.
Scientists state that at a certain age it is necessary to check your cholesterol level, because high cholesterol (if any) is often not manifested by a noticeable deterioration in well-being, and its first noticed symptoms may mean that severe pathological changes have already occurred in the body. A blood test allows you to determine the cholesterol content.
“It is important for all adults to know their cholesterol levels, but especially after the age of 40.”
Representatives of the National Health Service (NHS) note , that early detection of high cholesterol can help prevent heart disease and worsening diabetes. According to doctors, you can improve cholesterol levels in just two to three weeks by changing your diet and lifestyle.
