B12 deficiency: a sign when waking up in the morning – observed in 90% of cases

Vitamin B12 supports many important processes in the body. It is not surprising that vitamin deficiency causes a number of problems. One symptom upon waking in the morning is observed in 86 percent of cases.

Vitamin B12 performs many important functions in the body. To give you flavor, it helps produce red blood cells, supports the nervous system, and fights fatigue. Low levels of B12 undermine these processes.

Chronic fatigue is characterized by persistent tiredness that resolves during rest. This can become more pronounced in the morning when you wake up after a good night's sleep and find yourself still tired. Fatigue is one of the main symptoms of B12 and research suggests it is common.

A wide variety of symptoms have been found in patients diagnosed with B12 deficiency. 96 percent of patients reported “unusual fatigue.”

In addition, 86 percent reported waking up feeling tired, also indicative of fatigue.

Other common symptoms include:

  • Glossitis (34 percent)
  • Hair loss, mouth ulcers, or blurred vision (30 percent)
  • It is important not to ignore the symptoms of B12 deficiency as this can have catastrophic consequences.

While many symptoms improve with treatment, some problems caused by this condition can be irreversible if left untreated. The longer the condition goes untreated, the greater the chance of irreversible damage.

“Vitamin B12 deficiency can often be diagnosed by your GP based on your symptoms and blood test results.”
