Bad breath: Foods and drinks that make your breath smell bad

Leading dentist Dr. Barresh Eirumlu noted that bad breath, medically known as halitosis, “is often the result of poor oral hygiene.” However, your diet also plays a role.
“What we eat and drink can have a big impact on how fresh our breath is,” said Dr. Eirumlu.
While mint is a well-known antidote to bad breath, other herbs are not. less effective. It is noteworthy that adding parsley or basil to dishes can help.
“In addition to their own distinctive aroma, they contain polyphenols, a group of antioxidants that can destroy the growth of odor-causing bacteria,” noted the dentist. Another herb to consider is ginger, and the root is considered one of the best remedies for bad breath.
Ginger's properties are said to “kill the bacteria responsible for bad breath.”
As for one of the best drinks to fight bad breath, Dr. Eirumlu suggests drinking green tea.
What foods and drinks can make your breath worse?
< p>“Some foods can make things worse,” confirmed Dr. Eirumlu. “With dairy products, fish and alcohol among the worst culprits of bad breath.”
Dairy products such as cheese, milk and ice cream create bad breath.
“Amino acids , which they contain, are eaten by the bacteria that we all carry on our tongues, and they can leave a bad smell after eating,” said Dr. Eirumlu.
Seafood also causes a “characteristic odor” that comes from a compound called trimethylamines.
Another lingering aroma occurs when a person drinks alcohol and becomes dehydrated.
