Be careful: how running can harm you

Running is really good for both the body and the psyche. But, like any activity, running can be harmful. Here's what you need to know about it.
As WebMD notes, running improves the condition of the cardiovascular system, sleep, memory, increases energy, and improves mood. But it can also be harmful.
Dr. Matt Tanneberg listed the dangers you may encounter while running.
Rapid wear and tear on joints. Despite high-quality shoes and clothing, some of the consequences of running are difficult to avoid. When running, joints wear out faster, and this type of activity generally creates a lot of stress on the lower extremities, which can later lead to degeneration of the feet, ankles, knees, and hips.
Injuries. Even if you don't run for long, you can still get injured. You are especially at risk of damaging the soft tissues (most often muscles) of the lower extremities.
Injuries due to excessive load. The most common types of injuries in this case are plantar fasciitis, “split shin,” and “runner's knee.” These injuries are primarily related to inflammation that affects the tendons.
Overtraining. You risk overloading your muscles, tendons, and ligaments in this way.
Muscle imbalance. Running develops the muscles of the torso and lower extremities. Since running does not involve the muscles in the upper body, a person is more likely to get injured.
