Clean blood is important for protecting the body from dangerous pathologies, experts state.
Some products help “clean” the blood from excess sugar, cholesterol, as well as potential toxins, said medical experts from the Greek portal Pronews. They named beets as one of such products.
“Detoxification is promoted by eating beets, which contain many nutrients, magnesium, iron, and vitamin C. This vegetable helps to lower blood cholesterol levels,” the experts reported.
Doctors noted that beets are most useful to eat raw. In this form, it effectively helps to increase hemoglobin levels. Beets are characterized by a high content of iron and folic acid – it is one of the superfoods for maintaining healthy blood formation.
Garlic was named another product that “cleanses” the blood. The spicy vegetable has antibacterial properties, acting as a natural antibiotic, and its component allicin stimulates the production of leukocytes.
The detoxification effect is also provided by the consumption of cabbage and broccoli. This product contains sulforaphane – a compound that activates the excretion of potential toxins from the body.
In addition, the consumption of fiber makes the blood “clean”. Passing through the digestive tract, it absorbs many substances that pollute the body like a sponge, preventing the absorption of large amounts of sugar and cholesterol into the blood. Experts advised including in the diet foods with fiber such as grapefruits, pineapples, oranges, and tomatoes.
Also included in the list of blood “cleaners” are ginger, lemon, brown rice, and cardamom – all of them contain specific compounds that can bind and remove toxins from the body.
