Black tea reduces the risk of death from all causes – drink two cups a day

As the world's population ages, the need for better protection against age-related diseases is becoming increasingly apparent. Now a new study shows that one tea can reduce the risk of all-cause mortality by preventing ill health.
Dodging chronic illness is an important factor in longevity. This body needs a sufficient amount of antioxidants to fight free radicals and inflammation. They are most abundant in fruits and vegetables, but some types of tea also contain sufficient amounts.
Thanks to its antioxidant activity, black tea may increase protection against cardiovascular disease and early death. Black tea, which is one of the most consumed beverages in the world, is available in different forms such as Assam, Darjeeling and Earl Grey. It is well known for its anti-inflammatory potential, which helps reduce the risk of many chronic diseases.
A new study links higher consumption of black tea with a lower risk of death from all causes of heart disease and stroke.
“The study also found a similar inverse relationship in participants who added milk with sugar to their tea and those who were genetically predisposed to metabolize caffeine more slowly.”
In other words, there was no significant reduction health benefits for people who added milk or sugar to their cups.
The findings are encouraging to tea lovers and add to the body of evidence that black tea can be included in a healthy diet.
Higher tea consumption was associated with a lower risk of death among those who drank two or more cups per day, independent of genetic variation in caffeine metabolism.
