Boxwood is attractive, well shaped by cutting and decorating borders along paths, but there is a big downside to its diseases. Those who grow it know about boxwood fire and spider mite. You have to constantly fight with them, and this causes a lot of problems. Gardeners named five other plants that can replace boxwood.

Alternative decorative bushes

The proposed varieties are suitable for border cultivation. In particular, they are perfect for topiary forms. Alternative varieties to choose from:

  • spherical thuja (“Danica”, “Globosa”);
  • berry yew ;
  • honeysuckle;
  • Japanese berseklet;
  • magonia .

The advantages of such plants are their colors. They are evergreen. Therefore, they are able to decorate themselves in any season of the year. Such decorative bushes will not stand with bare or dry branches, but will delight with their fresh and cheerful appearance.
