British oncologists called shortness of breath a common symptom of cancer development cancer.

Breathing disorder such as shortness of breath occurs when the body lacks oxygen and the lungs try to draw in more air to compensate. British oncologists from the charity organization Cancer Research UK urged not to ignore this symptom, as it can be a sign of cancer development.

Experts stated that every fifth or seventh patient out of ten, who are diagnosed with cancer, face with shortness of breath during illness. In the case of advanced lung cancer, shortness of breath appears in 90% of people.

Oncologists note that shortness of breath in cancer patients manifests itself for various reasons. This can happen due to a growing tumor that takes away some of the blood, oxygen and nutrients that are needed for its development. Shortness of breath can occur due to the deficiency of all this. Metastases may also be the cause.

Doctors recommend that people who suffer from shortness of breath not due to respiratory infections immediately contact specialists.
