The male body ages faster than the female body due to a harmful lifestyle. By the age of 50, a man is four years older than a 50-year-old woman.
Scientists from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland have confirmed that men biologically age faster than women. Moreover, this gap is already formed after the age of 21, and such a sad phenomenon is connected with men's bad habits. For example, men smoke, drink alcohol and are overweight more often.
The authors of the study were interested in two ages of one person. One of them is the passport, and the second is biological, that is, the real state of the body. It can be determined with the help of various studies evaluating the number of certain DNA markers. A comparison of these two age groups showed a gender gap between men and women.
However, it is shrinking strongly, as the Finnish researchers claim, because this gap used to be different. In Finland, the number of male smokers is rapidly decreasing, from 37% in the 1970s to 17%. But among women, this number remains stable at the level of 15%. In addition, a strong floor also leads to excess weight, but men also struggle with it diligently.
