Can coffee prevent the effects of sleep deprivation?
0
American scientists conducted a series of experiments to determine whether caffeine can prevent negative consequences of lack of sleep. Subjects were deprived of sleep for one night, and in the morning they were given a capsule with caffeine, after which they had to solve various logic tasks.
It turned out that caffeine still helps to maintain concentration and activate mental processes, even despite lack of sleep However, caffeine allowed laziness to slightly compensate for the decline in strength and reduced mental activity. Study participants who rested peacefully at night solved tasks several times faster.
From this, the researchers concluded that coffee can slightly affect a person's energy balance and even slightly improve his mood. However, this is a short-term effect that cannot be compared with a full-fledged sleep.
