Cancer: Drinks that can significantly increase the risk of a fatal disease

Cancer- it is the end result of uncontrolled cell growth that spreads to different parts of the body. To protect yourself from the disease, you need to follow a number of dietary rules, which may include giving up any of these three drinks or reducing their consumption.
The study looked at sugary drink consumption and cancer risk. Sugar-sweetened beverages were defined as beverages containing more than five percent sugar, including fruit juices without added sugar.
The study aimed to assess the association between consumption of sweetened beverages, including sugar-sweetened beverages, and 100- percent fruit juices, artificially sweetened beverages, and cancer risk.
The study found that consumption of sugary drinks was significantly associated with the risk of overall cancer and breast cancer.
“In this large prospective study, consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages was positively associated with overall and breast cancer risk,” the study noted. “100 percent fruit juice is also positively associated with overall cancer risk. These results suggest that sugary drinks, which are widely consumed in Western countries, may represent a modifiable risk factor for cancer prevention.
Another study analyzed more than 35,000 people over a 12-year period who developed 3,283 obesity-related cancers, including liver, ovarian, pancreatic and gallbladder cancers.
“We were surprised to find that the increased risk of cancer was not entirely due to obesity,” said Assoc. Allison Hodge from the Cancer Council's Epidemiology and Intelligence Unit. Even people who were not overweight had an increased risk if they regularly drank soft drinks. This did not happen to those who drank diet soft drinks, suggesting that sugar was the key factor.
