Carbohydrates increase the risk of breast cancer

French doctors state that frequent consumption of certain products can increase the risk of breast cancer by approximately 20 percent.

According to the UK National Health Service (NHS), the likelihood of breast cancer increases with age, if there is a family history or a person is tall, as well as if they are overweight or regularly drink alcohol.

In turn, scientists from the Center for Research on Epidemiology and Population Health at the University of Paris-Saclay have established that the provocative role of breast cancer development Carbohydrates can play a role in the development of breast cancer. In particular, products containing refined grains – white rice, white flour and bread, as well as other refined grain products, including crackers, desserts, cereals, pastries.

The researchers analyzed the results of 20 years of observation of 65 thousand postmenopausal women. In their study, they studied the difference in health indicators between women who ate fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and legumes and women who ate refined carbohydrates.

“Those who followed a healthier diet had a 14 percent lower risk of breast cancer. Participants who ate refined carbohydrates had a 20 percent higher risk of developing the disease,” the experts concluded.
