The aging of the body is accompanied by certain “side effects”, and those who encounter them on personal experience may seem unusual.
Changes in the quality of sleep.Scientists state that the optimal sleep time is from seven to nine hours every night. However, with aging, sleep tends to become fragmented – after 60 years, a person may notice that he sleeps for some time periods. If this happens, you should talk to your doctor about using sleep aids during the night. A qualitative change in the structure of sleep that occurs with age does not mean that older people need less of it. However, sleeping too long can also be harmful, with a higher risk of heart disease.
Problems with alcohol.Another change in the body after the age of 60 is a decrease in the production of enzymes that break down alcohol. That is, as we get older, the body may require less to drink to feel intoxicated. In addition, alcohol stays in the body longer. Thus, after drinking, an elderly person can feel “below a degree” for an extremely long time. The same phenomenon is associated with falls and other troubles in the elderly that occur as a result of alcohol intoxication, which, it would seem, should have passed long ago.
Exercises make you younger. > The unusual effect of physical activity: after the age of 60, sports and adequate exercise can tone the body significantly more than in youth. According to research, older men and women who regularly exercise can be biologically almost 30 years younger than their chronological age.
Fatigue can shorten life. The Journal of Gerontology published the results of a study which says that many people over 60 years of age have a disproportionately strong feeling of fatigue that occurs after physical exertion indicates a higher risk of death within the next three years. It is interesting how scientists advise to fight it. In their opinion, the prevention of inadequate fatigue is physical exercises performed without fanaticism, but regularly.
