Coffee has been shown to be a good way to reduce the severity of liver disease

A new study from the University of Coimbra has shown that caffeine, polyphenols and other substances found in coffee can help reduce the severity of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in people who are overweight and have type 2 diabetes.

It turned out that study participants with higher coffee consumption had healthier livers. Such people were less prone to liver fibrosis. It has been suggested that components of this beverage, particularly polyphenols, reduce oxidative stress in the liver.

The researchers surveyed 156 middle-aged, borderline obese coffee drinkers. 98 of them had type 2 diabetes.
