European scientists with the help of a new study have proven that, on average, because of coffee, the level of cholesterol in men increases more than in women. Drinking 3-5 cups of the drink a day can affect the content of this substance in the body.
Scientists analyzed the results of a study conducted in Norway involving more than 20,000 people over the age of 40. Then the experts conducted a questionnaire.
Respondents were asked about their lifestyle, diet, bad habits, and physical activity. The obtained data were stored in the computer memory. In addition, scientists took into account the results of a 1974 study, which was also conducted in Norway.
As a result, experts saw a relationship between coffee consumption and an increase in blood cholesterol. This indicator increased more in men than in women who prefer an invigorating drink. Moreover, when using espresso, the level of cholesterol in the body became higher than when taking coffee prepared in another way.
