Cucumbers are considered one of the most useful vegetables. At the same time, its use in large quantities can harm the body. Experts have listed all the negative effects of cucumbers so that people use them only with benefit in the future.
First of all, it is not recommended to eat cucumbers at night, as this can disrupt the sleep cycle. The fact is that due to the large amount of fiber, the vegetable multiplies the time it takes to digest food. Because of this, the body does not rest at night, but works. For a full, healthy sleep, experts recommend a light dinner two to three hours before bedtime.
Cucumber seeds are rich in cucurbitin, an element that has diuretic properties. In small amounts it is useful. However, in excess, cucumbers can lead to excessive secretion of fluid, which will disrupt the electrolyte balance. Also, the cucurbitacin element can cause stomach upset in people with a sensitive digestive system. Abdominal bloating and flatulence are noted among the disorders.
Since cucumber has a cooling effect, it is not recommended to be eaten by people with respiratory infections. In other words, a healthy vegetable can only worsen a runny nose. In addition, according to a study by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, cucumbers can cause skin allergies.
