Alcohol consumption is a very common habit – many people do not see anything wrong with drinking one or two glasses of wine in the evening or drinking beer every day. In an interview with a cardiologist, a warning was sounded that with daily alcohol consumption, the likelihood of developing chronic alcoholism significantly increases.

In addition, the cardiologist emphasized that daily doses of alcohol can provoke the appearance of heart pathologies. In particular, cardiomyopathy may develop – a pathology associated with an increase in the size of the heart muscle.

With cardiomyopathy, the pumping function of the heart weakens, which leads to shortness of breath, edema and the development of heart failure.

“Also, with daily alcohol consumption, there is a risk of atrial fibrillation,” the cardiologist added.

The doctor clarified that in the presence of arrhythmia, a person becomes prone to blood clots and stroke. According to the doctor, when alcohol breakdown products constantly enter the blood, this can cause cardiac arrhythmias associated with sudden death.
