Dangerous diseases can be identified by the condition of the nails

Bruises under the nails can indicate cancer, and red stripes on the plates indicate a heart infection.

Changes in the condition of the nails can occur due to the development of diseases – this was told by dermatologists Shari Lipner and Christine Coe in an interview with the Daily Mail. One of the signs that should not be ignored is bruises that appear under the nail plates, doctors stated.

“Bruises under the nail plate can be a sign of cancer – subungual melanoma. This form of cancer can appear as a dark stripe under the nail,” dermatologists clarified.

The appearance of red stripes on the nails is a possible sign of infective endocarditis (heart infection). Pathogenic microorganisms can penetrate the heart muscle and enter the bloodstream. They can stimulate inflammation in the main engine of the human body.

Doctors advise those who notice that their nails have become thin to be wary.

“In some cases, thin and peeling nails can signal arthritis.”

Nails can also lose strength, becoming brittle. Increased brittleness of the nail plates usually indicates a lack of nutrients in the body – this, in turn, can be caused by an unhealthy diet or pathologies in which the body does not absorb microelements from food.

If the nails begin to bend inward, then you can suspect problems with the lungs or heart, which lead to a lack of oxygen or impaired blood circulation. In this case, blood accumulates in the fingertips – they can increase in size, and the nails on them – bend.
