DAZV plans to develop a scientific hub in the Chernobyl exclusion zone

In the Chernobyl exclusion zone, it is planned to develop a scientific hub with the involvement of specialists from all over the world.

This was reported by the press service of the State Agency for the Management of the Zone (DAZV), reports Ukrinform.

“We are betting on the development of the scientific hub. This is a promising project founded by DAZV, the purpose of which is to attract specialists from all over the world to obtain new scientific and technical data on the consequences of the disaster, the impact of radioactive pollution on the environment, people and materials, as well as the preparation of the foundations of economic decisions in the relevant industries,” the press service reported departments.

DAZV also created a catalog of sites for renewable energy. In addition, two solar and wind generation projects have been launched. A site for the potential placement of small modular reactors is also being selected.

Among the priority areas of the agency's work are also the final decommissioning of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the issue of handling spent nuclear fuel, the security of the “Shelter” facility and the new safe confinement.

“We work professionally with the most dangerous radioactive waste, so the development of competences and complexes for handling hazardous waste is a priority,” the DAZV press service emphasizes.
