Dementia: the first signs that are often mistaken for old age

Changes, what happens to a person with the onset of dementia can be gradual and often appear to others to be just signs of ageing.
The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) warns that the signs of dementia, especially in its early stages, may not cause concern.
“Changes in a person's personality at an early stage of the disease can be so gradual that they are often mistaken for normal manifestations of old age,” state his experts.
For example, experts say , a sign of aging may seem to be forgetfulness, but if a person cannot remember names, or does not remember what he did yesterday, this may well be a warning of the onset of dementia.
“Members of the family and friends should pay attention to cases when someone is trying hard to remember what he did yesterday, forgets the names of shy people or the names of everyday objects,” doctors advise.
Also among the first signs of dementia, which are often mistaken for a manifestation of old age, doctors call difficulties with tracking the subject of conversations or C understanding TV programs, repeated repetition of what has already been said or constant questioning. In addition, a person with dementia may feel angry, anxious or depressed, and feel confused even in familiar surroundings.
The National Health Service (NHS), in turn, reports that symptoms of dementia may include problems with speech (the person uses words incorrectly) or difficulties in performing everyday tasks.
